Tree Farmer Group forming in Grand County

More than 30 people attended Saturday’s meeting in Granby to discuss starting a tree farmer’s organization in Grand County.

Speakers ranged from foresters to tree famers who related success stories from other counties.

“The idea is not just for people who have acreage but anyone who has trees,” said meeting organizer Don McDavid.

Date and Time:  Friday, April 20, guests arrive at 10:30 a.m. and  pre-registered volunteers should arrive at 10:00 a.m.

Useful Information

·         We will meet at the Oval. Look for a tent and the Tree Campus USA signs.

·         We already have over 100 student volunteers for the event!

·         27 American elms trees will be planted in an effort to preserve the Oval.

·         Planting should be completed by 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

·         Planting instruction will be provided by CSU Facilities and the Colorado State Forest Service.

·         Parking will be limited so please plan to walk some distance from downtown or metered campus parking.

·         Eco Leaders will be sponsoring a “Bring-Your-Own Bucket CSU Compost Giveaway” at the event from 11am to 12:30pm.

Equipment Sale

Hi fellow Tree Farmers,

One of our neighbors (in the custom furniture making business) near Durango, is trying to sell his equipment and move back to Alaska.  He has the following items for sale that might be of interest to a Tree Farmer, so I thought I would share the info with you, just in case anyone is in the market.

  • Band Saw Mill - Norwood Model 2000 - cuts 24" x 24" x 16.5 feet length.  Mobile, loading & rotating - like new condition with many extras. Price $8500
  • Case 580-D "Construction King" Backhoe/Loader rigged for snowplowing, good running condition.  $16,000
  • Homelite Gas Generator - 3500 running/4375 peak - never used. $400
